Program

Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre's Wild for Art is a curriculum-aligned High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) visual arts program for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students. Set within the spectacular landscapes of Bobbin Head in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, students immerse themselves in nature, explore Aboriginal cultural sites and develop creative ideas through observation and artistic experimentation. Guided by a specialist visual arts teacher, students use a range of mixed media to produce expressive artworks while extending their creative thinking, artistic skills and appreciation of the natural environment.

- One day workshop (9.15am-2.20pm)

- Maximum 6 students per school (DoE schools only)

- Teachers are NOT required to attend the workshop

- Teachers or parents are required to drop off and pick up students from the venue

- Capacity of 42 students each day

Learning activities

Art inspired by nature

During a bushwalk, students will explore parts of the park and different viewpoints to inspire their artworks. This will also provide them with an opportunity to consider what they value aesthetically in this area.

Aboriginal cultural site visit

The students will visit and learn about important cultural and historical sites, including an Aboriginal engraving site to learn about the cultural value of the landscape and landforms to the traditional owners of the area.

Bush studio and mixed media techniques

The students will return to the studio to use a range of mixed media to create experimental artworks inspired by their immersion in nature. Students will use aspects of the natural world as a source of ideas, concepts and subject matter for their artmaking.

Cost and details


2025 Cost	$40 per student - GST free This will be processed through the student's school NOTE: National Parks entry is included in the cost
Transport	Schools are required to organise transport for students to and from the location. Drop-off is available in the Bobbin Head carpark.
Class numbers and size	Max. 6 students from each school Please contact the centre for more information
Risk assessments	A complete risk assessment will be sent to the school upon confirmation.
What to bring	Backpack, medication, low-waste food, water bottle, sunblock, raincoat, hat, sturdy shoes, mask. Students may wear sports uniform.
Adverse weather	On days where the weather is unsuitable (see risk assessment), a Gibberagong staff member will contact the organising teacher to discuss alternative arrangements.
Medical notifications	Notify Gibberagong EEC by completing and returning the medical form before the day. This form will be sent out upon confirmation of booking.
