Program

The Experience Nature excursion is an inclusive environmental education program that enables students with disability and additional learning and support needs to engage confidently with the natural world. Delivered by experienced NSW Department of Education teachers, each excursion is tailored to the needs of participating students, creating opportunities for sensory exploration, environmental discovery and meaningful outdoor learning. Through carefully planned activities in natural settings, students build confidence, curiosity and a connection with nature while participating in engaging, curriculum-linked experiences designed for every learner.

Making bush adventures accessible

The Hippocampe all-terrain wheelchair allows students with additional mobility needs see the beautiful national park and engage in the activities that we have to offer.

Designed with a low seat for easy accessibility, the Hippocampe all-terrain wheelchair is suitable on rough surfaces. Features include: push bar, armrests, headrest, adjustable folding backrest, tow rope, carry bag, brakes, carry bag and chest harness. Schools/students are to bring an individual bike helmet or similar for safety.

The wheelchair is a shared resource with national parks and is subject to availability.

Sensory Learning in Nature

Students engage with the sights, sounds, textures and scents of the natural environment through carefully designed sensory experiences that encourage exploration and confidence.

Inclusive Outdoor Learning Experiences

Each excursion is adapted to meet the strengths, interests and support needs of students, ensuring every learner can participate meaningfully in environmental education.

Connecting with Nature and Country

Students discover local plants, animals and natural environments while developing respect for Country and an appreciation of the importance of caring for the environment.

Learning with Experienced Environmental Educators

Qualified NSW Department of Education teachers provide engaging, flexible learning experiences using inclusive teaching strategies that support participation, wellbeing and success for all students.

Cost and details


Bus access map	Map for access to venue will be sent with the confirmation. Please ensure you print a copy and provide to the bus driver on the morning of the excursion.
Cost	2026 DoE $20 per student - GST free 2026 Non-gov school cost $25 per student - GST free, minimum charge $750 per class NOTE: National Parks entry is $1.10 per student in addition - GST free
Class numbers and size	Group sizes are dependant on students needs and abilities.
Risk assessments	A complete risk assessment will be sent upon confirmation.
What to bring	Backpack, medication, low-waste food, water bottle, sunblock, raincoat, hat, sturdy shoes, mask. Students wear sports uniform.
Adverse weather	On days where the weather is unsuitable (see risk assessment), a Gibberagong staff member will contact the organising teacher to discuss alternative arrangements. Please check your bus company’s cancellation policy.
Medical notifications	Notify Gibberagong EEC by completing and returning the medical form before the excursion. This form will be sent out upon confirmation of booking.
