Program
Our Brush with nature excursion is a visual arts program for all students in Years 7-10. During the day the students will observe, interpret and respond to their immediate environment at Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park - Bobbin Head or Kalkari Discovery Centre. Students will be encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the natural world and use nature as their source of inspiration.

Learning activities
Students will participate in a rotation of activities. These activities may include:
Musical art
Students respond to music through expressive, abstract artworks using mixed media to reflect rhythm, mood, and movement.
One-point perspective drawing or painting
Students will learn to create depth in their landscapes using one-point perspective techniques, including vanishing points and orthogonals.
Artistic field sketch
Students create detailed sketches of landscapes, focusing on capturing landforms and textures to describe the environment.
Life drawing of animals
Students create detailed sketches of animals, close ups, parts of (legs, feet, beaks) and textures to describe the animal.

| What to bring |
Backpack, medication, low-waste food, water bottle, sunblock, raincoat, hat, sturdy shoes, mask. Students wear sports uniform. |
| Adverse weather |
On days where the weather is unsuitable (see risk assessment), a Gibberagong staff member will contact the organising teacher to discuss alternative arrangements. Please check your bus company’s cancellation policy. |
| Medical notifications | Notify Gibberagong EEC by completing and returning the medical form before the excursion. This form will be sent out upon confirmation of booking. |
