S3 Frog adaptations incursion

Frog adaptations incursion

NEW Science and Technology K-6 syllabus

The new Frog adaptations incursion takes Stage 3 students on a journey into the fascinating world of frogs.

Aligned with the new K–6 Science and Technology syllabus, students will learn all about frogs during this full day, interactive, highly enjoyable incursion.

From meeting live frogs to learning about frog adaptations through game play, your students will become frog experts by the days end.

Special Note

This program depends on the availability of staff from the Frog and Tadpole Society (FATS). Please provide a selection of dates when booking.

Inquiry questions

What are the features of frogs and how do these features help them to survive in their environment?

Why do different animals, including frogs, have different adaptations?

How can frogs and their habitat be protected?

Session 1: Frog workshop

Meet a variety of different frogs and explore various adaptations of frogs, compare frogs to toads and learn all about tadpoles. Facilitated by a leading frog expert from the Frog and Tadpole Study group (FATS), you will become an expert on our local frogs by the end of this session.

Session 2: Frog adaptations games

Through interactive games, students will explore the different adaptations frogs have evolved. This fun, active session helps students grasp how different animals, including frogs, rely on adaptations to survive and thrive in their environment.

Session 3: Tracks and scats

Students become nature detectives, learning how to identify animals by the clues they leave behind. By examining tracks and scat samples, they’ll discover which creatures live in an area with the frogs, what they eat, and what animal may be causing frog numnbers to decline.

This activity sharpens observation skills and reveals how scientists study elusive wildlife without ever seeing the animals themselves.

NOTE: Gibberagong staff can work within established school times on the day. Please contact the Centre to discuss.
