Stage 2 and 3: HPGE, Creative art

Wild for Art is a one-day immersive Visual Arts program tailored for high potential and gifted students in Years 3 to 6.

Set against the backdrop of the serene Bobbin Head area within Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, this program offers students a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of art and nature. 

Under the guidance of our specialist art teacher, Tullia Cilia, the program is designed to inspire and challenge high potential and gifted students in a supportive and enriching setting.

The day will involve exploring and immersing in the natural environment surrounding the Bobbin Head area, using it as inspiration to create a range of artworks with various media.


Key information

  • One day workshop (9.15am-2.20pm)
  • Maximum 6 students per school (DoE schools only)
  • Teachers are NOT required to attend the workshop
  • Teachers or parents are required to drop off and pick up students from the venue
  • Capacity of 48 students each day

Bush walk and art immersion

During the walk, the students will explore parts of the park and different viewpoints to inspire their artworks.  This will also provide them with an opportunity to consider what they value aesthetically in this area. 

Cultural sites visit

The students will visit and learn about important cultural and historical sites, including an Aboriginal engraving site to learn about the cultural value of the landscape and landforms to the traditional owners of the area.

Bush Studio activities

The students will return to the studio to use a range of mixed media to create experimental artworks inspired by their immersion in nature. Students will use aspects of the natural world as a source of ideas, concepts and subject matter for their artmaking.

Teachers or parents are required to drop off and pick up students from the venue

Parking Is available in the Bobbin Head carpark
Cost

$40 per student - GST free

National Parks entry is included in the cost

Class numbers and size

Up to 4 classes

Max. 6 students per school (DoE students only)

What to bring

Backpack, medication, low-waste food, water bottle, sunblock, raincoat, hat, sturdy shoes, mask.

Students may wear sports uniform.

Adverse weather
On days where the weather is unsuitable (extreme heat, storms, high winds), a Gibberagong staff member will contact the organising teacher to discuss alternative arrangments.
Medical notifications

Notify Gibberagong EEC before the excursion. 

Students, staff and visitors must not attend if they are unwell.
