Preparing for your excursion - Bobbin Head

All of our programs and school excursions are taught by NSW Department of Education teachers. Our teachers complete the DoE mandatory training each year including Child Protection and Code of Conduct updates. We also hold first-aid certificates and have completed specialist training in specific areas such as canoeing and snorkelling. Meet our staff here.

Located on the banks of the Cowan Creek in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Bobbin Head is a historic recreation area utilised today by picnickers, families, walkers, boating and canoe enthusiasts.

Many of the Gibberagong programs at Bobbin Head include a walk to the rainforest along the Gibberagong Track. On this track, students will explore a diverse range of vegetation, from dry sclerophyll and remnant rainforests to the waterways mangroves. During a visit, it is not uncommon for students to be surprised and thrilled by an encounter with a large goanna or swamp wallaby. Students will also visit significant Aboriginal heritage sites, including traditional rock engravings, midden caves and sites of Aboriginal axe grinding.
